Jim began his metalworking skills at a young age, having an Uncle and Grandfather that were blacksmiths. During high school he began working part time at a street rod / auto restoration shop. After high school, he took the job at the shop full time and became proficient forming sheet metal and doing paint and lead work, as well as building engines and suspensions.
In 1998 his career took an unexpected turn, when he was hired by a city police department in NJ and became a police officer. Over the next 20 years, Jim became a member of numerous specialized units, including Anti-Crime Task Force, Auto Theft Task Force, Commander of the Ceremonial Unit, and SWAT Unit.
Jim is currently a Detective with 20 years of service, and is currently assigned to the SWAT Unit, where he handles training, mission profiles, budget, purchasing, and is an assaulter on the team. He is also a State of NJ Firearms Instructor, Submachine Gun Instructor, and Assault Rifle Instructor, as well as an Academy Instructor.
In 2004, while a police officer, started his first business. Located in Northern NJ, Jim began providing custom paintwork on motorcycles, as well as fabricated hand- made gas tanks and strut-less rear fenders.
In 2012, Jim started Triarii Metalworks. Originally designed as a provider of compliance solutions for firearms retailers, it morphed into a full-service metal and refinishing shop utilizing state of the art equipment.
In 2018, he founded Triarii Group, a second business, which is a training and consultation firm based out of New Jersey.
Jim is also an avid rock and technical ice climber since age 18. Along with climbing and mountaineering, he also is an accomplished skydiver and whitewater kayaker, and has also been to UWTI for tech diving and salvage and recovery diving.

Triarii Metalworks was founded in 2012 as a provider of services to local firearms stores for compliance solutions, including machined polymer magazine blocks, pinning and welding muzzle breaks, as well as laser marking for the medical and computer industries.
Triarii then began moving into the heavier fabrication world, with the integration of a CNC Plasma, and began providing plate steel to police academy firing ranges for range systems.
Fast forwarding 4 years, Triarii began producing Knives and EDC tools and apparel, as well as providing numerous services to other knife and tool makers, as well as local machine shops.
Triarii provides a broad spectrum of services, including water jetting, graphic design, ceramic coatings, heat treating, hot black oxide, commercial decal and vinyl printing, fiber and co2 laser engraving, milling, metal surfacing, cnc plasma, and more.
Through owner background and shop capabilities, Triarii has also begun designing and producing weapon accessories for several weapon platforms, as well as some gear, including CQB sling systems.
